There was a good turnout of players for today's medal, which is combined with the competition for the Centenary Salver. Several players had been honing their skills at the Scottish Seniors in Stranraer a week ago and the rest of us were just relishing a sunny day on the Braids.
Booking tee times for the medal had proved difficult, as a group from Merchiston Castle had been booked in to play in groups of four right in the middle of our usual slot. Those who followed Sarah L's suggestion to get out before the boys got lucky, with speedy rounds and nice conditions. Although the later groups also got the nice conditions, they also had to contend with groups of boys all over the course, playing to the wrong greens, sharing clubs and generally being clueless (although very pleasant!) and with 4 hour rounds. Fiona had to have a word about etiquette with some of the worse club-sharing culprits!
Out in front, with a splendid 7 under handicap score, was Sarah B. At last, she's cracked the Braids! (At least today). Also continuing her recent good form was Bev with a 1 under handicap round and Coleen with 1 over. It's great to see several players this season having really good rounds at the Braids.
Perhaps the looming pressure of the Morison Millar is getting to some of us, as the other scores were nothing to write home about. Who will be driving the 14 next Thursday?? That is the question that followed Karina round the course today! (On the upside, Karina, whoever it is won't have to drive the 7th.) Several people spent some time in close encounters with the gorse, especially in Sally's group.
Congratulations, Sarah, on an excellent round and winning the Centenary Salver.
