The Comiston annual triam took place today on a still and mild morning with fabulous views over Edinburgh - perfect for persuading friends to become Comiston members!

Susan Randall had made a fantastic effort organising it all with cards specially done for the occasion and prizes for the top 3 teams and the losing team 🤗. There were 10 teams of Comiston members and friends - perhaps people keen to get in some practice for the Gibson Cup this coming weekend.

Jane Hannam defeated Jacky Burnett in the Singles hole in hole final.

Jaci Moriarty and Susan Randall defeated Mandy McBain and Sue Ferguson in the foursomes hole in hole final.

Congratulations to the winners and commiserations to the runners up.

We're rather late off the mark in this, but many congratulations to Mandy McBain who is now Champion at both Carrickvale and Lochend. Good luck to her in the Champion of Champion knockouts when they come round.

A hearty slap on the back to Anne Brownie for all her successful work with the Solheim Cup scoring team. It didn't sound like an easy gig but no doubt contributed to what turned out to be a fantastically successful event.

14 of us played on a beautiful sunny day but the conditions turned out to be rather more difficult for 13 of us than might have been anticipated. Many of the holes were in tricky positions and for some reason most of the tees seemed to be much further back than usual. There was also an unhelpful dog that moved a few of the balls albeit they were retrieved. But Sarah Ledingham managed to conquer it all and come in with a net 71 winning both the Medal and the Medal Winners Final. Well done her. She made it counting though with the CSS being 74.

21 members met to play in the Autumn outing at Pitreavie in sunny, breezy weather. The format was a Cha Cha Cha which clearly suited some people rather well! The winning team, with 73 points, was Sarah L, Kelly and Irene Bruce (who we hope will be joining Comiston in 2020). In second place, with 68 points, were Lisa, Fiona and Caspin.

For the first time we had a sweep for the best individual stableford score. Kelly whopped the field with a stonking 40 points and won the £21 sweep, recouping (almost!) her costs for the day.

Louise Fraser (representing Kingsknowe this time) played Karen Marshall in the clash of the titans at Royal Burgess GC last Sunday. It was a match worthy of the occasion with Louise overcoming her tussles with the trees on the front 9 to come back from 3 down after 8. Birdies on 16 and 18 brought the match to all square so it came down to sudden death on the 19th which, on this occasion, went Karen's way. No doubt these two will meet each other again in this competition. Karen is now 4 to Louise's 3 in the Champion of Champions. Thrilling stuff!

There was a small turnout for the September medal, probably due to a lot of members being away this week. Nonetheless, six stalwarts played in very windy conditions that meant scoring well was difficult. Sarah Ledingham continued her good play this season by winning both the gross and the handicap with a nett 76. It was reductions only with a CSS of 74.
