Getting back together in person to hold our AGM, enjoy each other's company at dinner and have the prize giving hearkened back to the good old days when social events like these were normal.  It was particularly nice to have the Merchants clubhouse to ourselves for the whole evening and Julie and Craig Terry and staff made us very welcome.

The AGM minutes will be circulated soon but highlights of the evening included: the bringing to a conclusion of the centenary celebrations with a donation of £100 to the Fairmilehead Marie Curie centre, the presentation of thank you flowers to Anne and Sandra and the election of Fiona Findlay to the post of Vice Captain.  It also brought to a close Viv Curran's two year captaincy.  Viv took much persuading to be the Captain but she has been the ideal centenary Captain - unbelievably generous with her many gifts to the Club (prizes, welcome chocolates, markers, golf balls, etc.), unfailingly enthusiastic about all things Comiston and very encouraging to anyone who is into golf, which is the Comiston Ladies, in spades!  Viv continued her form, paying for the wine for the dinner and it was certainly a very jolly evening.  Sarah Ledingham takes over as Captain and she will, no doubt, be the ideal captain for the year we host the Morison Millar, having already done this once before for Murrayfield.  Thank you, Sarah!

Things went very smoothly until the prize giving when it became apparent that the Secretary cannot count!  Although Viv had supplied plenty of Comiston logo balls, JRT managed to bring about half the number actually required to reward all the competition winners and runners up for their efforts.  However, rather a big carbon footprint has been burned today getting the remaining balls out to their rightful owners, so the prize giving is concluded!  There were 16 different names on the competition winners and runners up list - indication of very healthy competition over the year.

JRT also forgot to mention that we have a new trophy this year - the League Salver.  This was donated by Gail, for which thank you very much, Gail, and was won in its inaugural year by Mandy, the steadiest of competitors.  Gail should really have been asked to present her trophy - apologies, Gail.

A very enjoyable end to 2021.  Roll on 2022: welcome new members and happy golfing, all.  🏌🏻‍♀️
