Fifteen people showed up to play golf (could it really be called golf?) in the gale. Two went out early and had marginally better conditions but as the morning wore on it became hard to stand upright in some spots on the Braids. Three people ended their rounds early due to not feeling well (we hope you are all better now) and those that finished looked like they'd been in a tussle and come off worst. When rain was added into the mix later in the day it became even less enticing and the trio who were to play late decided not to play. The competition was reductions only and the CSS went up to 74. The winner and only person to score in the 30's was Chris Hochstrasser.

Louise Fraser and Anne Brownie played the Championship Final on Tuesday 20th August in tricky conditions with very heavy and squally showers alternating with warm sunshine. Anne got off to a good start with a birdie at the 2nd. The weather more or less held until the turn at which point Louise was two up. Louise's length became a significant factor on the longer holes, especially in the worsening conditions on the inward half, but the downpours didn't get in the way of a birdie for Louise at the 10th. The match ended on the 15th when Louise stuck her second shot to gimme distance and Anne duly conceded the match. A valiant effort from Anne but Louise came away the victor. Congratulations to Louise and commiserations to Anne.

On other news, Mandy McBain, Fiona Findlay and their third team member came second in the MCLGA biennial triam at Prestonfield on 19th August. Hurrah! Comiston was well represented at the event and Amanda Northridge also did Comiston proud by winning nearest the pin in two on the 5th by being in the hole in two!

This medal was rescheduled from 9th when there was a deluge to 16th when there was a small band of hardy souls which got even smaller before the off given the rather breezy damp conditions. For once Jaci Moriarty did not get wet in the evening but that didnt seem to help! So Mandy McBain triumphed with a net 79! Reductions only.
