Everyone is obviously keen to get back into the swing of organised golf judging by the turnout of 24 who signed up for the season kick-off Texas Scramble.  We managed to inveigle a block booking out of EL and, despite a number of call offs and a pretty unpromising weather forecast, those who turned up really enjoyed themselves.  The weather was squally with some face-scouring hail showers but there was a good deal of sunshine, lots of rainbows and the views from the golf course were stunning.  Best of all it was lovely to be back amongst Comiston friends and to welcome new members Jess, Maxi and and also Hilary whose first Comiston event at the Braids this was.  We missed those that had to pull out for various reasons.

Scores were really quite respectable considering the weather although the course is in good condition.  Leading the field was the team of Karina, Bev and Maxi with 68.  The golfing gods knew what they were doing as it turns out it is Karina's birthday.  Happy Birthday, Karina.  Next best was the team of Diane, Ruth, Sue and Maggie with 70 on a BIH from Anne, Carol and Susan R.

Thank you to Viv Curran who started us all off in good spirits with a goody bag of chocolates on the first tee and thank you to Sarah L for organising a fun event.  Sarah would have been playing herself but gashed her knee while running out in the Pentlands a couple of weeks ago and needed stitches.  Hope you're back in action soon, Sarah.  And indeed all the other wounded warriors - Jacky B with a broken ankle and now a broken clavicle and Violet, Gail, Sally, Sarah B with back and knee problems etc etc!
