Comiston Ladies Golf Club is based at the Braid Hills Golf Courses. We play our Competitions over Braids No 1. Our season runs from April to September during which time a minimum of ten competitive qualifying rounds, medals and stablefords, are played on Fridays in a morning draw or arrange your own time in the afternoon and early evenings. We also hold hole and hole competitions, singles and foursomes and a Club Championship with a qualifier and then knock-out. We hold a Coronation Foursomes competition and the winners are entered into the next round run by the R&A. Members are eligible to join Midlothian County Ladies Golf Association and play in their competitions. Our Club Champion is eligible to play in the Midlothian Champion of Champions Tournament. Qualifying winners of medals are eligible to be entered into the following year's Scottish Golf competitions. The Club also enters a team (or two) in the Morison Millar Tournament. Our 5 aside team won Division 2 in 2023 and is playing in Division 1 in 2024.
Apart from the more competitive events we have a fun game at the beginning of the season and a tri-am later on both on Braids No 1. We organise some 9 hole fun rounds at the Wee Braids. There are also two outings (Spring and Autumn). In 2024 our Spring outing will be, a first time visit for Comiston Ladies, to Scoonie near Leven and our Autumn outing will be to Peebles.
The 9 hole Wee Braids course has been rated by Scottish Golf. It has been designated as an additional course for Comiston and members can put in supplementary scores for handicap purposes from rounds played there.
New members would be most welcome. It would be best to have some golfing experience to play on Braids No 1 as it is a challenging course but those with less experience can start out on the Wee Braids. Players can gain and hold their handicap with Comiston as their home club.
Braids No 1 from the red tees for women is a par 72 course, with a slope rating of 128 and a course rating of 71.5. Wee Braids has a slope rating of 110 from the red tees for women.
