Month: April 2018

Congratulations to our Secretary, Gail Joughin, who became the MCLGA (Midlothian County) B Champion on Sunday 29th April. Gail defeated Liz Calder of Turnhouse by 2 and 1 in a close, entertaining encounter played over Deer Park GC, Very well done Gail from all the Comiston Ladies members.

There was very limited visibility for our April Medal.  The medal was not cancelled because the Course was not closed but nobody played!

A BIG congratulations to the two lucky prizewinners in our first ever Comiston Fifty Club Draw :

First prize (ball 36 drawn by Captain Janet RT) : Jane Hannam, winner of £22.80
Second prize (ball 30 drawn by Sue Cowie) : Anne Brownie, winner of £15.20

The first Draw for Fifty Club Members was meant to have been conducted following the April Medal but the weather had other ideas so, disappointingly, no golf! No matter the weather, the Fifty Club Draw went ahead so four ladies assembled at the Braid Hills Coffee Shop with the above results!
Thanks to Janet and Sue for doing the Draw.

Janet definitely with her eyes shut for the draw, and then (right) presenting Anne with her second place prize.

We started the Season on Easter Friday with a fun game over Braids No 1.  The first 9 holes were a little bracing in this 'Spring' weather but thereafter dampness made it a bit attritional so we called it a day after the 16th.  Susan Randall our organiser for the day provided the Easter egg prizes.. Viv Curran won the first prize with one of our newcomers, Chris Hochstrasser, a close second just beating Susan R on the second half.  Let's hope Spring has remembered to turn up for our first medal in the middle of April.
