2014 AGM, DINNER AND PRIZEGIVING

A most enjoyable evening took place on Thursday 13th November at Mortonhall Golf Club. The 94th AGM went very smoothly with all the main reports from office bearers being well received and providing an interesting summary of the 2014 season. These reports will be summarised in the AGM Minutes which will be circulated in due course. The following Committee was elected for the 2015 season:

Captain : Sue Cowie

Vice Captain: Kirstin Everett

Secretary : Gail Joughin

Treasurer : Maggie Salmond

Handicap Secretary : Rosemary Denny

Committee members : Viv Curran and Barbara Lyle

Retiring Captain Pam Townsend will stay on Committee as Auditor in 2015.

Pam couldn't resist a second cardIn addition to the formal part of the AGM, some fun was had with the presentations to two  members leaving Committee.  Zandra Mathieson demitted office as Secretary and was thanked for all her hard work and enthusiasm on behalf of Comiston over her years in office.

Captain Pam amused the AGM attendees with presenting Zandra with a box of Kleenex, vitamin tablets and a hot water bottle (amongst others!) to help her ward off any bugs her grandchildren may pass on!

Zandra with her hottiePam also presented Zandra with a voucher to spend on golf gear to equip her for all the hours she will be spending on the course in her new role of Midlothian County Captain.   Comiston Ladies wish Zandra all the very best for her  Midlothian Captaincy.

The second presentation was to Anne Brownie who was also stepping down from her Committee role with Comiston Ladies in order to take up Captaincy of the East of Scotland Veteran Ladies Golf Association.  Anne was thanked in particular for her role in the computerisation of Comiston. One of Anne's gifts was the dolphin pictured getting a taste of the scrummy fish pie on offer at the Dinner. A delicious meal was enjoyed by all which was followed by further entertainment from Pam (below left) giving us the recipe for whisky cake (hic!!).

After Dinner, the Prizegiving took place with the final presentation to our 2014 Champion, Louise Fraser (pictured below right with Pam and the Championship Cup).
